Rebecca Ferguson at the Premiere of  " The Greatest Showman" Costume of Jenny Lind by Ellen Mirojnick.
Double face silk satin bubble coat. Embroidered and Swarowsky chrystals .Ready for first fitting in real fabric. The final version will have shorter sleeves and lightened embroidery on collar.
I had to be clever while building the collar: the fabric itself was heavy, and it is much heavier with the embroidery! I managed to create a portrait collar that stands up by itself !
Fun, gorgeous and very talented Rebecca Ferguson on the last fitting of the coat.
The second gown I built for Rebecca was a heavily embroidered organza with 3D petals, going lighter at the hem.. Heavenly!
The full museline of this dress was necessary to see the volumes with the pettycoat.
First version of the "lace" dress as we called it. Without the shoulder band.
First time I met Rebecca Ferguson was at the Studios, in Brooklyn. She just landed from London, she was tired but very pleasant! Do I need to say I had an instand crush on her?...
We were trying different options for the shoulder band, that would give the final touch to the dress.
The final version of the dress as Ellen Mirojnick created it. Gorgeous, right?
On the filming set, to help create a more ethereal aura around Rebecca, Ellen decided to ad a piece of tulle to one shoulder drawing a little more attention closer to Rebecca's face.. Good choice !
The dress had a very nice slant at the hem, elongating the silhouette. That light is magical!
The 3rd gown I built for Rebecca was also magical: Irridescent feathers at the bust, pleated organza at the skirt...
The feathers were painted by hand with irridescent paint to help give the heavenly glow to them. But I have to admit: Sewing them was not easy!
Building the gown , once more directly on Rebecca was an experience I will never forget: Working directly with the designer and the actress was pure delight!
Building step by step: once the fesathers are removed, I had to drape the bodice part directly on the bustier to make it seamless. Then, an attempt at draping the shoulder band that will end up beling much larger!
Final dress after final fitting. This dress was a success! For the style, for the fit, the choice of fabrics... I had such a pleasure building that one!
What not to like about this picture : A beautiful woman in a beautiful gown. Taken onstage before filming...Admiring....
A still from the movie with Hugh Jackman, and Rebecca Ferguson.
